I am proud to welcome you to Snapdragon Preschool, a magical place where children can be children and parents can connect with like-minded families.
We are a small, tight-knit community that supports one another’s vision of teaching children the way they learn and offering daily opportunities for experiential learning including academics, science experiments, sport skills and gymnastics.
In my role as Owner and Director of Snapdragon Preschool, I am committed to providing a happy, healthy, emotionally supportive environment for our teachers, students and families, where we all continue to learn and grow and meet each other where we are.
My passion is to provide children with an environment and learning opportunities that grow their confidence through experience and participation. Child development, learning, and sports have been my life’s work. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. My studies focused on psychology, child development and kinesiology. I began working in childcare professionally in 1995. During this time, I also coached competitive gymnastics in the afternoons, coaching 10 gymnasts from age 6 to 18, earning college scholarships for their hard work, dedication, and academic achievement.
I opened my own school in 2007 and hosted a morning parents’ day out program with academics, play, soccer and gymnastics called Jump!-n-Learn. Seeing the beauty in the way these programs worked together and how they intertwined important socio-emotional skills into real life experiences, I was motivated to expand this program. In 2012, I received my child care director’s certification and opened a 5 day week program. Now in 2020, we have two full-time locations in Austin, where children can play, exercise, and build social and emotional skills amongst their peers.
I love spending time outdoors and doing arts and crafts with my two amazing children, ages 3 and 4. Having worked in childcare for so long I thought I had things figured out, but raising my own children has been an eye opening and rewarding journey, offering me experience that no amount of education could give. In my free time (what little exists right now, as a mom of young children, a business owner, and a director), I enjoy yoga, hiking, and escaping to the beach!
I look forward to getting to know each of you and sharing this amazing, one-of-a-kind experience with your precious children. It is an honor.
